The Hampton Classic is always a can’t miss summer destination on the ShowNet calendar, and the posh New York venue didn’t disappoint in 2018.

Hampton Classic highlights include:

$75,000 Douglas Elliman GP Qualifier: Always contentious, the Douglas Elliman Grand Prix qualifier put valuable spots in the Hampton Classic Grand Prix on the line. Shane Sweetnam bested a field of 50 to win the class. He and the Blue Buckle Group’s Indra van de Oude Heihoef were fastest in a nine-horse jump-off. The duo was fresh off a win in five-star competition at the Dublin Horse Show.

$70,000 Longines Cup: Sweetnam and Indra continued their hot streak a day later in the Longines Cup. This time besting a more compact jump-off field of five, the pair was still fastest. They edged out Richie Moloney and Rocksy Music by three-tenths of a second.

$10,000 Equitation Championship: On her 14th birthday, Mimi Gochman won the Equitation Championship. Riding her family’s Heroy von de Hei, she rode to a winning two-round total of 187 points. The pair’s second round score of 95 clinched them the victory.

$300,000 Hampton Classic Grand Prix: McLain Ward would not be denied in the Hampton Classic Grand Prix. He rode Double H Farm’s Gigi’s Girl to top honors over a star-studded jump-off field of five. The pair’s bold inside turn brought them through the timers nearly two seconds fastest to put another exclamation mark on Labor Day weekend in the Hamptons.
