ShowNet Makes Successful Winter Equestrian Festival Debut

ShowNet, the online equestrian information system dedicated to improving equestrian efficiency through advanced time management tools made a successful debut during week one of the 2005 Winter Equestrian Festival. The wireless information system helps both management and exhibitors reach a higher level of efficiency using modern technologies that have no boundaries or restrictions. The Show Net system utilizes the advanced software tool, “Order of Go.”

ShowNet, accessible on the world wide web at www.shownet.biz, provides a complete order of go for all eight rings of action at the WEF show facility located at 14440 Pierson Road in Wellington, Florida. In addition to tracking how many horses have gone and how many remain in each class at each ring, the software offers “live scoring,” stand by lists and once the class is completed, results with scores, faults and times are posted.

The system was designed to help subscribers plan their days and to save them endless treks to the numerous venues searching for information on the status of their various classes. With some exhibitors stabled miles from the competitions at WEF, ShowNet has become an invaluable resource to help expedite that process.

“We are thrilled with the way the system worked the first week,” said co-founder, Grant Williams. “By the second day were really rolling. We worked on upgrading on each day of the first week. Williams said that the upgrading and the tweaking involves contributions from users all over the horse show grounds.

"With the input we get from the starters, the announcers and from our customers, we’re able to modify the software with any good idea that comes along. ShowNet will continue improving every day, forever, really,” said Williams. “You can always get better and with real live use of the system, we’ll make changes and upgrades any chance we get.”

David Orlando, the second half of the ShowNet team, echoed his sentiments. “I’ve received very positive feedback this week from both subscribers and the officials at the horse show. This is a groundbreaking program and I’m excited that so many people are already using the system to make their day more efficient,” said Orlando.

Steve Sarafin, the Winter Equestrian Festival’s announcer at the Mogavero Ring is very enthusiastic about ShowNet. “These guys have done a really good job with this. Their software is excellent, the reception here is perfect and every time one of us here in the booth thinks of any kind of tweak or enhancement to what they’re offering, they usually make the change within an hour,” Sarafin said. “I trust the concept. In fact, I’ve given up my yellow legal pad,” Sarafin said, laughing. “This is the first time I’ve trusted a software program to track the entries and results properly.”

2004 AGA National Championship winner, Laura Kraut, says her husband Bob is very enthusiastic about ShowNet and its potential. “Bob has found it to be a tremendously useful tool. We’re stabled a long way from the ring and with 55 horses in the barn this year, being able to hop on the wireless system and see what’s going on in all of the rings makes our life so much easier. And, it’s getting better every day,” she added. “They keep working out the little bugs and smoothing out system. We’re very excited about the technology.”

Shownet can be accessed on any computer via high speed, dial up or on the extensive wireless system covering the entire WEF showgrounds in Wellington.

ShowNet is making final arrangements for the sale of specially priced PDA devices. They’ll be sold at the Media Center at the Winter Equestrian Festival. There, customers will be able to purchase their PDA, have it programmed while they wait, synch it with their regular computer and sign up for the ShowNet service, all in one simple and short visit to the Media Center.

In addition, Show Net users will know where they rank in the standings at anytime. “We’ve had tremendous feedback from show management and from the exhibitors who have seen the system in operation,” Williams added. “The response was 100% positive and we’re very excited about that.” Orlando adds, “We’ve received over 60,000 page hits since our debut at WEF.”

“Feed and bedding orders are coming real soon and we’ve already got live scoring plus add, scratch and declarations capabilities, so there is no end to what will be available on Show Net,” Williams added.
